Životopis

Ashfaque Ahmed Jhatial comes from Pakistan and is employed as an assistant in the Department of Materials by the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb. He is employed by the DuRSAAM project as part of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action. His narrow field of research is the durability of alkaline-activated materials under combined external influences. The goal is to simulate the degradation process in AAMs under the influence of at least two external or mechanical actions together. Simulations and experiments will consider the effects of shrinkage, freezing and thawing, carbonation and penetration of chloride separately, and combined, together with mechanical loading. Asfaque Jhatial has participated and still participates in numerous conferences and workshops on the subject.

Asfaque has earned the academic title of Master of Civil Engineering from Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia University, Malaysia. The subject of his research diploma was "Investigation of eco-friendly foam containing ash obtained from burning palm oil and ash of egg shells as a substitute for a portion of cement". He completed his undergraduate degree at Mehran University of Technology and Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan with the title of Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering (B.Eng).

For the last several years he has been working as a Laboratory Engineer as a Lecturer in Laboratory Exercises at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Mehran University of Technology, SZAB Campus, Khairpur Mirs', Pakistan. In this position, he conducted laboratory experiments during the exercises. In addition, he has lectured undergraduate and graduate students in theoretical courses: Fluid Mechanics, Applied Hydraulics, Irrigation, Hydrology, Mechanical Engineering, and Building Materials. He is also a commentator on two Undergraduate Students' Finishing Theses.
