Biography

Antonino Runci works as Ph.D. student at the Department of Materials, Faculty of Civil Engineering, since April 2019. His Ph.D. topic is "Chloride ingress and corrosion of steel in Alkali-Activated Materials", part of the DuRSAAM project.

Previous studies: in September 2018, he completed his Master in Geology and Technical Geology at the University of Padua (Italy), where he focused on one-part Alkali-activated blast furnace slag binders: systems based on silicates and on aluminates. He completed a degree in Analysis and Management of Natural and Anthropic Risks (Geological Sciences) at the University of Messina (Italy) on July 2016.

DuRSAAM project (Durable, Reliable and Sustainable Structures with Alkali-Activated Materials)  http://www.dursaam.ugent.be/

DuRSAAM is a Collaborative international and multidisciplinary training founded by MARIE SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE ACTIONS Innovative Training Network of EU HORIZON 2020 Programme. The project is an international network that involves 13 Ph.D. students in a consortium of 7 different European Universities, together at 15 non-academic partners.

The Mission of  DuRSAAM is to strengthen the European research area on eco-efficient construction materials and the increased competitiveness of Europe's construction sector, in applying concrete technology based on alkali-activated materials (AAM) for a more sustainable built environment.
