Applicants eligible for admission to this program must hold a university master's degree in civil engineering or an equivalent qualification in a related field of technical sciences. They should have earned a minimum of 300 ECTS credits, with at least 60 ECTS credits completed in courses belonging to the civil engineering field. If an applicant falls short of the required ECTS credits, s/he may be allowed to enroll after undertaking "additional" exams determined by the Scientific Committee.
In addition, applicants holding a Master of Science degree, as per the previous regulations, can also apply for admission. The Scientific Committee may consider the recognition of previously earned credits as equivalent to the credits required for the program they intend to enroll in.
Before being admitted to the doctoral program, applicants are obliged to go through a placement process. This process assesses the applicants’ prior academic performance. To be eligible for enrollment, applicants must prove a minimum grade point average of 3.5 achieved during their undergraduate and graduate studies, they must exhibit active proficiency in English, and meet the prerequisites outlined in outlined in Article 6 of the Ordinances regulating admission/the course of postgraduate studies.
For individuals who do not meet the specified grade point average criteria, there is an alternative path. They can still be admitted if they receive recommendations from at least two faculty members within the doctoral program, with one of them serving as the prospective dissertation advisor. Additionally, these applicants should have co-authored at least one research paper presented at a conference or published in a journal.
In cases where the graduate thesis supervisor and the doctoral advisor are the same individual, the applicant must provide an additional letter of recommendation, making it a total of three letters of recommendation.
TUITION FEE
The tuition fee for the doctoral study is 11,000.00 EUR.
Notably, assistants and staff members employed at the Faculty are exempt from paying tuition fees, while University employees are required to contribute by covering half of the tuition fees, as outlined in the University’s decision.
