In addition to teaching and professional activities, the staff of the Department of Concrete and Masonry Structures also engage in scientific work in the field of concrete and masonry structures.

The staff of the department continuously participate in international projects, as leaders or associates.

The results of scientific research works have been published in domestic and foreign journals and books, and the staff of the department have participated in several international technical committees of IABSE and fib and in the organization of domestic and international scientific conferences. The staff also actively participate in the work of the Technical Committees of the Croatian Institute for Standardization.

In recent years, scientific research has been carried out as part of the scientific projects "Limit states of serviceability of reinforced concrete structures (scientific topic no. 082001, leader: Prof. Z. Sorić) and "Application of non-metallic materials in concrete structures", (scientific topic no. 0082203, leader: Prof. Z. Sorić), financed by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports.

As part of these projects, research was carried out on the load-bearing capacity, serviceability and strengthening of reinforced concrete, as well as masonry structures, or their elements. Two master's and two doctoral theses were written, and several scientific papers were published both in Croatia and abroad. Good cooperation was also achieved on these projects with other scientific and professional institutions.
