František Wald worked at Czech Technical University in Prague as Professor and Head of the Department steel and timber structures. He is currently manager of Erasmus Mundus Master Program Sustainable Constructions under Natural Hazards and Catastrophic events – SUSCOS_M. He served as Chairman of the EU COST TU action Integrated fire engineering and response, IFER. He is member of technical committee TC 10 Connections of ECCS. After study at Czech Technical University in Prague and TU Lyngby he has an opportunity to lecture at Nagoya Institute of Technology, Purdue University, UC Berkeley, and NTU Singapore.

His work is focussed to steel structures (connections, stability, composite action)(Wald, F. at al: Design of Steel Structures with Worked Examples to EN 1993-1-1 and EN 1993-1-8. 1. ed. Singapore: Research Publishing Services, 2011. 175 p. ISBN 978-981-08-9441-2.), aluminium structures (shear connections, novel structures) and fire design (Wang, Y.C. - Burgess, I.W. - Wald, F. - Gillie, M.: Performance-Based Fire Engineering of Structures. 1. ed. Boca Raton: CRC Press, 2012. 369 p. ISBN 978-0-415-55733-7). Between 20 European grants he was in 2003 in charge of project EC FP5 HPRI Access to Research Infrastructures Programme: Tensile Membrane Action and Robustness of Structural Steel Joints under Natural Fire, the sevenths large test of composite frame in Cardington, in 2005 of the project Mokrsko fire test, and in 2008 Veselí fire test under RFSC-CT-2009-0008, COMPRIFIRE, Design of joints to composite columns for improved fire robustness.
