He was born in Dubrovnik in 1976. After primary and secondary school education in Dubrovnik, he studied at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb, where he graduated in 2001. He obtained his Master's degree in 2005 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb, on-topic ''Reliability of welded semi-rigid beam to column joints''. He received his doctorate in thesis ''Reliability assessment of beam-to-column joints with cleats'' at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb in 2009. After finishing his studies, he was employed at Indokonzalting d.o.o. in Zagreb. Since September 2011, he has been working as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb. In 2010 he was elected as an Assistant Professor, in 2016 as an Associate Professor and in 2021 as a Full Professor. His research work is fundamentally related to the broader field of structural reliability, focusing in particular on semi-rigid joints in steel structures, behaviour of metal structures in fire and the research of composite plate steel-concrete shear walls subjected to cyclic loading. He has received several international awards for his scientific research work. In his professional activity, he deals with design, construction supervision, assessment and rehabilitation, as well as an accreditation expert in the field of construction products in Croatia and Slovenia.
