Dalibor Carevic was born on April 18, 1977, in Zagreb. He attended Elementary school and Secondary Electrotechnical School ''Rudjer Boskovic'' in Zagreb, where he graduated in 1995. The same year he enrolled the Higher Construction School where he graduated in 1999 at the Department of Structures.
He continued his education in 1999 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb. During his study he was focused on hydraulic engineering in the scope of the Water Research Department. After sucesefull completion of the program, he graduated in June 2003 with graduate thesis entitled "Long Submarine Outfall Stobrec", under the supervision of prof. Marko Prsic. He was awarded with ''The annual award for the best graduate thesis in 2003''. During his study, he won Rector's award for scientific and professional work entitled "Interaction of foundation soil and construction" in the field of geotechnics, 2001. Also, he was awarded for ''Best student of the fifth year'' in 2002.
In January 2004 he was employed at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department of Water Research, where he continued his education at the post-graduate scientific study for PhD under the mentorship of prof. Marko Prsic. In the scope of his work, he took responsibility for students’ education in the scope of graduate and undergraduate programs, participated in professional projects as an author and coauthor and published science papers in international and domestic journals.
In the scope of PhD program he conducted extensive laboratory experiments in wave channel and processing of measured data which was presented as a doctoral thesis entitled "The Hydraulic Interaction of Submerged Breakwater and Perforated Seawall", under the supervision of prof. Marko Pršić. He successfully defended his thesis on November 12, 2009 and acquired the academic degree of doctor of science, from the scientific field of technical sciences, disciplines Hydraulic engineering. He was awarded with “Annual award of Croatian Waters” for the best doctoral thesis in 2009.
Since then, he has been dedicated to the education activities and scientific work which has been published in the international journals and symposiums. As a member of the organizing board he participated in organization of the professional and scientific conference “Water management days 2013” in Zagreb.
He was promoted to the position of an Assistant professor in 2013, at the Chair of Water management, Water Research Department.
SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES
In scientific research he has been devoted to the coastal engineering, especially stability and functionality of coastline structures. He has successfully combined theoretical and experimental models describing some of the interactions of sea and the coastal structures. Also, he has spent significant amount of time in field work improving wave and current measurement techniques from boat and from seabed. The results were definition and standardization of new techniques for sea currents and sea waves measurements.
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
He participated at the undergraduate and graduate programs of Faculty of Civil Engineering as a teaching assistant from 2004 up to 2013 at the following courses: Fluid Mechanics, Structures in Hydraulic Engineering, Waterways and Ports, Coastal Structures, Design in Hydraulic Engineering.
Since 2013 he has taken over the following courses: Waterways and Ports, Maritime Structures and Interaction of Sea and Structures as an Assistant professor at the Department of Water Research.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
As an associate and designer at the Faculty he participated in the preparation and development of the series of professional projects. His activities covered several design levels: conceptual engineering solutions, preliminary and major engineering designs of marine structures, measurements of ocean currents and waves and professional studies about sea actions.
Scientific projects:
1. "Influence of environment on the design of water structures" (project code 082-0822994-2175), prof. Marko Prsic, the source of funding: Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (2007-2014)
