Awards for Excellence in Research

The Faculty Awards of Excellence

The Award for Excellence in Research is given to an established faculty member in recognition of outstanding research achievements. The award is given biennially to an individual for participation in national and international scientific research and development projects, for outstanding research productivity, for citation of published papers according to the Web of Science™ Core Collection database, for supervision of doctoral students, for authorship or co-authorship of technical innovations, patents, new products, new technological processes, for authorship or co-authorship of a scientific book or chapter in a scientific book, for awards for scientific work from other institutions, and for work with young scientists.

Three awards were presented for the period from 2019 to 2023:

  • Prof. Vlatka Rajčić (for the period from 2013 to 2018)
  • Prof. Alan Filipin (for the period from 2014 to 2019)
  • Assist. Prof. Mislav Stepinac (for the period from 2016 to 2021)

The Young Scientist Award is given to scientists up to 35 years of age for their participation in national and international scientific research and development projects, remarkable research productivity, citation of published papers according to the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection, authorship or co-authorship of technical innovations, patents, new products, new technological processes, authorship or co-authorship of chapters in scientific books and received awards for scientific work from other institutions.

Five awards were presented for the period from 2019 to 2023:

  • Assist. Prof. Ana Baričević (for the period from 2016 to 2018)
  • Assist. Prof. Bojan Milovanović (for the period from 2016 to 2018)
  • Assist. Prof. Mislav Stepinac (for the period from 2016 to 2018)
  • Assist. Prof. Mario Bačić (for the period from 2019 to 2021)
  • Martina Grubor, PhD. (for the period from 2020 to 2022)

The Award for published scientific papers is awarded to all authors of a scientific paper published in the highest ranked scientific journal in the previous academic year. The ranking of scientific journals is based on the impact factor of the year in which the paper was accepted, according to the Journal Citation Reports® Science Edition (JCR SCIE). The award is given annually. A total of four awards are given (three awards for the field of civil engineering and fundamental technical sciences and one for other scientific fields). The following table shows that the impact factor of the award-winning papers has increased over the years.

The Outstanding Doctoral Student Award is presented from 2022 to promote academic integrity and excellence during postgraduate study. The award is given for 1st and 2nd performance as well as overall performance in the PhD programme. A total of 9 awards have been given so far:

For the academic year 2020/2021

  • Ksenija Tešić for outstanding achievements in the 1st year of the doctoral programme
  • Nikola Perković for outstanding achievements in the later years of the doctoral programme
  • Sonja Kolarić for overall achievements during the entire doctoral programme

For the academic year 2021/2022

  • Katarina Didulici for outstanding achievements in the 1st year of the doctoral programme
  • Ksenija Tešić for outstanding achievements in the 2nd year of the doctoral programme
  • Hana Posavčić for overall achievements during the entire doctoral programme

For the academic year 2022/2023

  • Domagoj Tkalčić for outstanding achievements in the 1st year of the doctoral programme
  • Luka Lulić for outstanding achievements in the 2nd year of the doctoral programme
  • Nikola Perković for overall achievements during the entire doctoral programme
