Summary

The CWBframe project focuses on the research and development of an innovative structural system for a frame structure made of composite beams made of cold-formed steel profiles with corrugated webs (CWB). CWB beams combine the advantages of thin-walled profiles and the advantages of corrugated webs, achieving high stiffness and resistance with a significant reduction in material consumption compared to conventional rolled profiles. Such a solution allows for a high degree of prefabrication and rationalization of the production process, thereby contributing to increased efficiency and reduced carbon footprint. The main objective of the project is to develop a reliable calculation procedure for the application of CWB beams in steel frame structures that integrates analytical, numerical, experimental and probabilistic methods. Laboratory tests of CWB beams and extensive parametric analyses based on developed and validated advanced numerical models will be carried out. Special emphasis is placed on the investigation of failure mechanisms using probabilistic methods and life cycle analyses to assess the reliability and long-term sustainability of the system.
