Participation in the CIMS2026 international conference

September 2026

Associate Professor Ivan Lukačević and Emanuel Jurić attended the 9th International Conference on Coupled Instabilities in Metal Structures – CIMS2026, held from 21 to 23 September 2026 in Timișoara, Romania. Emanuel Jurić presented the paper “Application of Spot-Welded Built-Up Cold-Formed Steel Beams with Corrugated Webs in Frame Structures. Parametric FE Study”, authored by Emanuel Jurić, Ivan Lukačević, Ivan Ćurković, Andrea Rajić and Viorel Ungureanu.

Two papers related to the CWBframe project were published in the Springer proceedings Coupled Instabilities in Metal Structures, volume 920 of the Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering series: “Application of Spot-Welded Built-Up Cold-Formed Steel Beams with Corrugated Webs in Frame Structures. Parametric FE Study” (pp. 330–344) and “Experimental Investigation of Coupled Instabilities in Built-Up CFS Girders with Corrugated Web” (pp. 288–297), the latter authored by Ivan Lukačević, Andrea Rajić, Ivan Ćurković and Viorel Ungureanu. Both papers acknowledge support from the CWBframe project and funding through NextGenerationEU.

CWBframe project presented at WED2026

June 2026

The CWBframe project was presented through a poster at WED2026 – World Environment Day 2026, held on 2 and 3 June 2026 in Varaždin to mark World Environment Day. The poster presentation formed part of the mini-symposium “Institutional Knowledge for Excellence” (“Institucijskim znanjem do izvrsnosti”), held on 3 June. A project abstract outlining the objectives, methodology and initial numerical results was published on page 44 of the book of abstracts.

Research team meeting held

June 2026

A meeting of the CWBframe research team was held on 1 June 2026. The team reviewed current knowledge on the behaviour of built-up beams made of cold-formed steel sections with corrugated webs and their application in frame structures. Further numerical modelling activities and preparations for laboratory testing were planned.

Participation in the ECCS webinar on sustainable design of steel structures

May 2026

Emanuel Jurić attended the ECCS webinar “Life-cycle driven design of steel structures for reduced embodied carbon”, which comprised four sessions. The training focused on the design of steel structures with consideration of their life cycle and the reduction of embodied carbon. The knowledge gained supports the planned life-cycle assessments and evaluation of the sustainability of structural solutions within the CWBframe project.

Research team kick-off meeting held

November 2025

The kick-off meeting of the CWBframe research team was held on 12 November 2025. The project website and logo were presented, and the planned activities were discussed, with particular emphasis on the first year of implementation.

CWBframe project website and logo developed

October 2025

A website and logo have been developed for the CWBframe project – Application of Built-up Cold-Formed Steel Corrugated Web Beams in Frame Structures. The website introduces the project and provides information on its research activities and results, while the logo forms the basis of its visual identity.
