It is a great pleasure to announce the 11th Doctoral Symposium in Civil Engineering, organized by the University of Zagreb Faculty of Civil Engineering.

This year’s program is divided into two parts:

• In the first part, special emphasis will be placed on the development of doctoral students’ communication skills. The workshop entitled “Pitch Perfect: Find Your Story”, led by Deni Nurkić from the Nikola Tesla Innovation Centre (ICENT), will provide you with practical knowledge on how to present your research ideas concisely, clearly and convincingly in a limited amount of time — a key skill in both academic and business environments. The workshop will take place according to the following schedule: the first part on Tuesday, 2 September 2025, from 14:00 to 16:00 and the second part on Monday, 8 September 2025, from 11:00 to 13:00. Registration for the workshop is possible via the link provided until 31 August 2025 at the latest.

• The second part of the symposium will take place on 11 September 2025 and will include a number of interesting activities, such as a panel discussion on the role of research in the engineering profession with representatives from industry who have put their research experience into practice, followed by presentations of PhD students’ research topics. Prof Došlić will give a presentation on writing scientific papers with an international scope, and the day will conclude with an inspiring talk by postdoctoral researcher Dr Shaqfa, who will share his story of scientific development in an international environment.
